Dept postdocs

This one is very in the weeds of academia, but I’m supposed to be the postdoc director for the department, but it was hard to do anything without even first figuring out who the postdocs were as well as some basic information about them. It essentially required reaching out to the postdoc office to get a roster of who they were, since it always seemed a struggle getting that information from the department itself. I’ve now gotten a few data points from the last 1.25 years, so the data is now at least partially time resolved as well. So what does this data look like?

By eye, the roster is 90-100% international postdocs. There’s been a fair amount of turnover, with three of them happening by faculty departure. A couple of them shifted to staff positions (research associates), one voluntarily, and the presumably the other aging out.
